Greatness or Ungrateful?

The difference between a million selling author and an influential one is time.

Can your work impact writers imaginations for decades/centuries?

Above is one of a few questions you should ponder while endeavouring to be a writer or teller of tales most entertaining…

Another would be ~
Does your work do more than touch an emotion?

Some others would be ~

Is your work a model of imagination or is it a carbon copy machination?

Can your piece span the gap between the ages of youth to refined elder age?

Can or does it make your audience do more than ponder the esoteric?

Will this be the cornerstone of your work or par of the main foundation?

Did you write this out of desire to tell a tale or win an award?

My basic reply to caring about awards and such can be made summary by John Le Carre’s interview on the American news magazine 60 minutes… https://www.cbsnews.com/videos/le-carre/

Pay attention to what he says about awards and such.. mirrors my feelings and thoughts on the subject  quite nicely. I tend to know and believe that the best of the best and those that aspire to be such, write from the heart and let the story be told. Nothing is gained by writing like someone else! You must find what the story dictates and what’s in your heart first and foremost. It’s not work or labour if you truly are the person in your heart doing what you love. Time becomes irrelevant and quality will shine through, always!
Repetition is fine for exercise and training, but one must let go and allow the spirit to fly freely within the circumscribed bounds of your chosen path. Who knows? You may find one that none have considered. Or , more than likely, you will discover the best way for you to put your tale, music or drawing to paper/canvas/instrument.
I will always scoff at the morons who believe in putting out a novel a week. Life, like writing, is never a race and the more you constrain yourself with time and such, the more likely you will be simply doing a cut and paste piece of work.
It may sell well once, but to the readers of the world if a pattern emerges of empty plot line and vapid cookie cutter characters – you’re finished.
Some times, it happens even to the best of us, but not as often as the pretend writer!

I’ll follow up on this soon enough.. Till then, write on ~ Pun intended ~, be you and never compromise quality for quantity!

And so the much unusual 2nd blog in a row… who knew?

Okay, so my two friends of recent years are now husband and wife officially ~ may we all be so lucky as find a soul mate in this day and age and be as consistent and steadfast with them as these two are with each other.
Next, through with the initial end of book 3 of Camden’s Follies…

A note to future readers –
This IS episodic and the tone and atmosphere are on purpose ( or is that porpoise?). The whole tale IS a send up of the old serial heroes of my youth from silent and early talkie films that came out weekly or monthly. Those were where the hero always got the girl, won the day and even had an anchor woman as a steady despite being a Tom Cat! ( blackguards)
As in that tradition, there are cliffhangers, inside jokes and such – Thus I remind all getting ready to immerse themselves that
1) Content and Context – read it all. Reading is like circumcision – either go all the way or just forget it!
2) I know when someone has truly read and not skimmed over something – don’t make me break out the inner Oxford Don, yes?
3) It’s all in good fun and the over the top melodrama is in the spirit of the original formulae of the films, such as Zorro, Tarzan, Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, etc…
4) Yes, the villains are over the top and the names are inside jokes as such.

Anyway, now that I’ve vented for a tad – forgive me loyal followers – on to other things.
Now to pitch an anthology for serious horror or sci – fi/fantasy and steampunk writers to get into and even help out a few good causes and give relief to the victims of natural disaster.
I will have Elder Offensive FULLY done as soon as possible. Finding a good image for the covers is a MUST it seems as does finding multiple distribution sites and printing facilities. – at least ones within my budget.
And if you don’t like the cover art or where to get the books in physical form – TOUGH!
I gave fans and readers equal chance to have a say ad contribute to getting quality art for my book covers! Also, if you think you can do a better job writing – shut it and put out an original NON cut & paste book and see how THAT goes over.

For now – prepping for poetry writing and plot outline for big finish for Elder Offensive!

Read, be enlightened or refreshed, find inspiration and be creative

Late, but still…

Okay, better late than never, yeah?

Writing and Reading Update:

Getting ready to finish a submission, horror genre, for a relief fund raiser for Houston – possibly Florida too… Well, Climate deniers – you had this coming, yeah? Honestly I feel for the people of Texas – southern coastal – Louisiana and Florida. You are getting pummelled mercilessly and the people in charge have dropped the proverbial ball.

I may start an anthology m’self. Just to be ahead of the curve for giving.

Okay, now on to other matters ~

It’s hard to feel alive when existence is all you get.
I wonder if anyone will learn to read within the bounds of Content & Context united?
How many times will humanity act like a hamster on a wheel, before they get it right?

Okay – enough mini rambling!

Congratulations to Carolyn and Chaz! May this dynamic duo find smooth sailing and friendly skies from this point on, with much great luck, fun and adventure as one could possibly experience!!

ALLONS – Y!
